ADAPT OR DIE!

MF said: "Sonny nailed it with 'And if they work hard to represent their members (aka clients, customers)... Then they should flourish like any other successful business.' In this case with MSEA-SEIU Local 1989, it seems like they would need to make major internal changes and work VERY hard if they lost their current monopoly."

They would have to adapt or die...and given their current management team....they'd likely die.

Because they wouldn't be able to compete with all the new market actors that would enter the newly deregulated job insurance market.

Think Eastern, Pan Am and TWA airlines...once they lost their government guaranteed monopoly routes...they couldn't compete.

After years of government protection they just didn't have the competitive culture necessary for surviving in a free market.

Unions cannot survive without a host since they a parasitic by nature, and eventually they kill the host.

MSEA-SEIU Local 1989
Could this be more questionable activities/expenses?

Yesterday (Saturday, 03/01/14), the MSEA's Augusta office was buzzing with activity at 10:00 AM but the union's online Event Calendar (http://www.mseaseiu.org/cgi-bin/events_c...lendar.cfg ) had nothing listed for activities... and yet the parking lot was full and the conference room was in use. Hmmmmmm, we can only wonder:

1) Was this yet another political campaign/activity taking place at the expense of fee payers and membership dues?

2) Who was present?

3) How did ALL of the related expenses get billed for that function?

4) Did they have more free pizza for the participants??? Confused

Fee payers and union members deserve to know the truth in all of the political activities by MSEA-SEIU Local 1989.

It's a shame that more of the people these local SEIU staffers represent don't receive money and benefits like that.

Who's working for who?

In addition, as reported in the 2013 Hudson/Beck Notice, this local SEIU office reported a $1,549,114 total expense for Affiliation. Can you guess what that huge expense was used for?

You have to ask the question? How much of your dues were given to politicians? What a ripoff.

MORE EVIDENCE -- 06/01/2014

Happy June 1st! Since it’s now time to take another quick review of the website homepage for MSEA-SEIU Local 1989 ( http://www.mseaseiu.org/), as of this morning, it’s very obvious that this “labor union” is still using a lot of membership and fee-payer resources to support the Far-Left’s political agenda through that site. Here are some examples (emphasis added):

1) “At our urging, state legislators overrode Gov. LePage's veto of LD 1858…”

2) “The Highway Fund Budget, LD 1788, became law without the Governor's signature.”

3) “… for all other workers in all three branches of state government became law without the Governor's signature.”

4) “The Bipartisan Supplemental Budget that went into law without the Governor's signature includes…”

5) “Enacted into law without the Governor's signature, LD 232 ensures…”

6) “… we asked MSEA-SEIU members to call their state legislators and urge them to override the Governor's veto of LD 1837.”

7) “We are disappointed that enough state senators voted with Gov. LePage to deny…”

8) “… the urgent need to accept federal funds to expand healthcare coverage and to elect a governor who respects Maine workers. We are united in supporting Congressman Mike Michaud as Maine's next governor."

In addition, the union's property has continued to be used as an advertising billboard (e.g., Donna Doore for State Representative, etc) and is likely to continue through November... plus, you should see all of the political endorsements they're giving over on their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Maine-Sta...5688432932

What are the chances that this so-called labor union will report all of these activities as either cash or in-kind political contributions to the Far-Left movement and their various candidates? Thumbs_down

IMO, the IRS should take a very close look at the books (i.e., accuracy of billing codes used, etc) for this "labor union."

MSEA-SEIU Local 1989
The recent election has been over for almost one week now, and yet the MSEA-SEIU Local 1989 front yard still looks like an advertising billboard with their political lawn signs. This picture is from yesterday, June 15th:

Follow-the-money to see if/how this labor unions claims all of their cash and in-kind political donations for 2014... most of which usually goes for the Far-Left progressive liberal campaigns.

**** More political expenses by SEIU HQ ****
June 28, 2014

This union’s continued support for the Far-Left political agenda is illustrated today on top of their homepage at http://www.seiu.org/

House Republicans: It's now or never
On June 27, 213, the Senate passed a bipartisan immigration reform bill with 68 votes and the country rejoiced. One year later, Republicans in the House continue to block reform and it's got to stop.”

SEIU RN Advocates for Patients and Medicaid Expansion at the White House Summit for Working Families
--> FMI: http://www.seiu.org/2014/06/seiu-rn-advo...expans.php

Can anyone guess how these political activities are being expensed/billed at SEIU? As they say, time will tell.

RE: MSEA-SEIU Local 1989
My guess is they are expensed/billed under meals and entertainment, charitable donations or just plain old miscellaneous.
