WORCESTER - A Portland, Maine, police officer was arrested Saturday during a concert at the Palladium on Main Street.

Zahra Munye Abu, 24, faces misdemeanor charges after acting unruly and refusing to leave when asked by security, according to Worcester police. The charges include assault and battery, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and trespassing. She was released on personal recognizance at 1 a.m. Sunday.

Officer Abu has been a Portland police officer for two years, gaining attention as Maine’s first Somali police officer, according to a 2016 story in the Portland Press Herald. She was born in a Kenyan refugee camp and moved to Portland with her family when she was 2, the paper reported.

Here's another Maine diversity story. It is lacking in content, but the message seems clear: Diversity Rules! (And it is interesting the story comes from a Seattle, WA newspaper, not a Maine print rag.

https://www.seattletimes.com/nation-worl...h-student/

SANFORD, Maine (AP) — A Maine substitute teacher has been fired after telling a student he would get kicked out of the country if the proposed U.S.-Mexico border wall is built.

Sanford School Department officials tell the Portland Press Herald the exchange happened in an 11th grade classroom at Sanford Regional Technical Center last week. The district fired the teacher following an investigation into the exchange.

In the video clip posted on Twitter , the student and teacher discuss the border wall. The substitute tells the student, “Oh, you’re getting kicked out of my country.” She later says the country has belonged to her longer and references President Donald Trump.

Officials are not identifying the teacher or student.

The exchange follows Trump’s recent incendiary remarks about Central American and African countries.

This serves to underscore the appalling lack of qualified people who sign up as substitute teachers. Ignorance is found in all arenas.

RE: Another Maine Diversity Success
No offense but from the product being turned out of taxpayer funded schools, there is an appalling lack of qualified teachers. Ignorance seems to be concentrated in certain professions lately, to bad they are teaching children.
