Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. In my opinion the emotion driven, absent logic democrats got there referendum passed. Now they have to dance their way out of the accountability space. angus the king did after he left a $700Million dollar bill for the taxpayere....they will find a way to redistribute you wealth....but not while Paul Lepage is here.

House Dem Leader Jared Golden has NO IDEA how to
pay for Maine Medicaid expansion

Top Democrat hopes for new state surplus, offers no actual plan to find the $54 million required to implement expansion

AUGUSTA - Today, Maine Republican Party executive director Jason Savage released the following statement on how, in a radio interview this morning, House Majority Leader Jared Golden demonstrated an inability to explain how Maine Medicaid expansion will be paid for, and that Democrats have no actual plan for this massive new spending initiative.

"Jared Golden just proved the point Republicans have been making for years. Expanding Medicaid in Maine for able-bodied adults is not free--it costs Maine taxpayer money. Rep. Golden twisted himself into a pretzel this morning trying to suggest coming up with the money will be no big deal. He even suggested gutting the rainy day fund--money Governor LePage and Republicans in the legislature have worked hard for years to build up. As Mainers agree, the rainy day fund is meant to be there for tough times and emergencies, not for spending on welfare for able-bodied adults.
As time goes on, this welfare expansion would cost Mainers more and more money. Democrats pushed for this and now they own it and they owe the people of Maine an actual plan to pay for it. Raising taxes again, raiding the rainy day fund, and cutting services for our elderly and disabled neighbors are non-starters. The Democrats need to get serious and get to work on cleaning up the mess they just made. They should not expect Republicans to violate their core principles to bail them out on this expensive and poorly planned expansion.

Rep. Golden needs to understand that Democrats simply repeating that it is time to implement Medicaid expansion is not a plan -- it is a talking point. Maine's budget is not balanced with talking points."

Huh...i guess i don't get the republican-radio mentality: ...i never hear these miserable peckerheads complaining about 'free/heavily subsidized medical care' for politicians, militarists/mercenaries, judges, government lawyers, etc. government 'employees' galore [hint for republican/crat peckerheads: we'd be a whole a lot better off if most of your republicrat 'government employee$' stayed home, smoked dope and watched cartoons..]

...you hardly hear a peep of protest from these republican/crat radio/teevee parrots about the unknown illion$ spent in their endless quest as self-appointed world policemen, etc. twisted goddamned boondoggle$ galore...but 'wasting money' giving poor people free/heavily subsidized 'health care'...why that sends the howie carr-sucking republican idiots into a tizzy!...

...and again and always as one brilliant wag puts it, 'these republicrat #%@!# are constantly working their $#@%^$#@#@$% [crude slang for mouth] about some illion dollar problem and the @#$%^@#!$%#@ don't even know what one dollar is!... Wink

Nowhere in the original documents that founded this great nation does it say that the "proper job of government is to take care of people"!

The main purpose of the federal government was to help maintain "freedom" for it's citizens. What exists today the "founders" would NOT recognize!

If you search for quotes from these great men, on the topic of redistribution of wealth....you would find that they ALL thought that to take from the pocket of he who earned it, to give it to another....was against everything America ever stood for!

To paraphrase De Toqueville a bit: "The fools will vote themselves largesse from the pot....if given the opportunity!

Just as bad are the road job bonds. It is the legislature's duty to approve all spending in that area but they hide behind the curtain and let the people do it knowing full well they won't say NO....in fact they will approve even more than there would have been eventually. Major contractors are backers of these questions. Taking crony capitalism to new heights every day!

Just wait until us lucky taxpayers have to bail out the shaky "state retirement system" one of these days!
